Do these pencils work on black paper?
Yes, heavy black paper works brilliantly to bring out the metallic qualities.
When laid down are the metallic colours flat or do they glisten and shine?
Yes, the leads are metallic wax, when laid down the coloured areas shimmer and the pencils are beautiful to work with.
Can you recommend a good sharpener for these metallic pencils?
Castle Arts recommend a quality double sharpener. Other methods include a sandpaper block or, when used with care, an electric sharpening device.
Can you use these with acrylic paint?
Yes, on a matt surface with a little texture for the pencil to ‘bite’ into.
Why does my metallic pencil drawing go flat/matte and lose its shine when I use a blender pencil and burnisher?
Instead of using a blender pencil, blend with a lighter metallic pencil — this will also increase the sheen. When you burnish, place a thin piece of paper over your drawing so the burnish pencil isn’t in direct contact with the drawing.
